About

Titãs is a pioneering Brazilian rock band known for their eclectic fusion of punk rock, MPB (Música Popular Brasileira), Brazilian rock, and pop. Formed in São Paulo in 1982, the group has undergone several line-up changes but is currently comprised of Tony Bellotto (guitar), Branco Mello (vocals, bass), Sérgio Britto (vocals, keyboards, bass), Mario Fabre (drums), and Beto Lee (guitar). Renowned for their dynamic stage presence and socially-conscious lyrics, Titãs have been a significant force in the Brazilian music scene, continually evolving their sound over the decades.

How to Sound Like Titãs

Titãs’ music is characterized by its raw, energetic sound, combining the aggressive edge of punk rock with the melodic richness of Brazilian pop. Their guitar tones often range from gritty distortion to jangly clean sounds, a balance achieved through a mix of electric and acoustic elements. The use of Fender Telecaster guitars contributes to their bright, punchy riffs, while acoustic instruments like the Martin 0-18 Acoustic Guitar add warmth and depth to their compositions. The rhythm section provides a driving, yet fluid groove, underpinning the band's ability to seamlessly shift between high-energy rock and more introspective, melodic passages. This blend of sonic textures makes Titãs both a versatile and compelling presence in the world of Brazilian music.
