Trick Pony is a country trio that emerged from the rich traditions of '70s outlaw country and country-rock. Formed in 1996 by Keith Burns (guitarist) and Ira Dean (bassist), who were both seasoned musicians working with notable artists like Joe Diffie and Tanya Tucker, the group solidified its lineup with the addition of Heidi Newfield, a California-born singer, guitarist, and harmonica player. Known for their dynamic, shared lead vocals and energetic performances, Trick Pony quickly became a fixture on the Southern club circuit before releasing their self-titled debut album in 2001. Their music resonates with a blend of classic country storytelling and modern sensibilities, capturing the essence of the genre with hits like "Pour Me" and "On a Night Like This."
