About
Waysted is a British hard rock band known for their raw energy and gritty sound, emerging from the mid-'80s heavy metal scene. The group was formed by former UFO bassist Pete Way, who infused the band with his distinctive style. The original lineup featured Paul Raymond on guitar and keyboards, Ronnie Kayfield on guitar, Frank Noon on drums, and a vocalist known as Fin. Over time, the band experienced numerous lineup changes, with Pete Way remaining the only constant member. Waysted's music spans genres such as hard rock, glam metal, and arena rock, capturing the high-octane spirit of the era. Their discography includes albums like Vices, The Good, the Bad, the Waysted, and Save Your Prayer, and they have shared the stage with rock legends such as Dio and Iron Maiden.
How to Sound Like Waysted
Waysted's sound is characterized by its raucous, high-energy vibe, blending gritty guitar riffs with driving rhythms and anthemic choruses. The band's sonic character is aggressive yet melodic, achieving a balance that appeals to both rock purists and arena crowds. Pete Way's bass playing, often heard through a combination of Fender Precision Bass and powerful Ampeg SVT-4PRO amplifiers, provides a thunderous low end that propels the music forward. Guitars typically cut through the mix with the help of classic Marshall amplifiers, delivering the gritty, overdriven sound that defines much of the band's work. Waysted's music thrives on its unpolished, visceral edge, making it a staple for fans of raw, unapologetic rock.
