Airwindows is the audio plugin project of developer Chris Johnson, who has been releasing free and donation-supported DSP tools for music producers since 2007. The catalog spans hundreds of plugins covering nearly every category of mixing and mastering processing — console emulations, tape and analog saturation, EQs like Baxandall3, ladder filters such as Suzan, clippers like ClipOnly3, reverbs and ambiences (including the WoodenBox miniature reverb), and the well-regarded 'Cans' headphone cross-feed algorithms.

The plugins are deliberately graphic-less, presenting only generic host-drawn sliders so the focus stays on sound rather than UI. They are released under an MIT open-source license with no DRM, and ship in AU, VST2, VST3, CLAP, and LV2 formats for macOS, Windows, Linux, and Raspberry Pi. An 'Airwindows Consolidated' bundle collects the full library into a single plugin, and the source code is openly available on GitHub, which has spawned ports such as the Rackwindows modules for VCV Rack.

Airwindows operates as a one-person studio funded primarily through Patreon, with Johnson publishing new plugins on a regular release cadence alongside YouTube demonstrations of each tool. The project has built a cult following in the home-recording and pro-audio communities for its unusual signal-processing ideas and willingness to give serious DSP work away for free.
