Founded in 1918 by Austrian-born trumpeter Vincent Bach (born Vincenz Schrottenbach), the Vincent Bach Corporation began when Bach, then a principal trumpet player at the Metropolitan Opera, grew frustrated with the quality of available mouthpieces and started crafting his own. His handmade mouthpieces quickly became sought after by professional brass players, and by 1924 he expanded into manufacturing trumpets and cornets, followed by trombones in 1928. The company operated out of New York City and later Mount Vernon, New York before relocating to Elkhart, Indiana, where it operates as a subsidiary of Conn-Selmer.

Bach is best known for the Stradivarius line of professional trumpets and trombones, which remain among the most widely played professional brass instruments in the world. The Bach 180 series Bb trumpet is a staple in orchestras, jazz ensembles, and studios globally. The company also produces flugelhorns, cornets, and what are often called "the most played mouthpieces in the world." Historical product lines include the Apollo, Mercury, Mercedes, and Minerva models, while the Prelude line serves as their student-level offering.

Bach instruments have been the choice of prominent brass players across genres for over a century. Early adopters included Harry Glantz, principal trumpet of the New York Philharmonic, and Georges Mager, principal trumpet of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Glenn Miller's band played exclusively on Bach trumpets and trombones during the swing era. The brand continues to be a standard-bearer in professional brass, with players in orchestras, big bands, and commercial music relying on Bach instruments worldwide.
