Black Volt Amplification is a Los Angeles-based boutique amplifier company founded by Giovanni "Gio" Loria in 2014. A professional musician with over two decades of experience — including early work with the Atban Klann (the precursor to The Black Eyed Peas) — Loria trained under electronics restoration expert David Riddle and channeled his deep knowledge of vintage circuits into building his own amplifiers. Each Black Volt amp is hand-wired and assembled using a combination of new and vintage electronic components housed in cabinets built from reclaimed wood, often century-old barn siding of aged pine, mahogany, or oak.

The company's flagship model is the Crazy Horse, available in Custom and Deluxe configurations, which runs on 6V6 or 6L6 power tubes. Other amplifier models include the Whitey MKIII, the compact Sparrow (inspired by the vintage Gibson GA5), the Hawk and Trem-O-Hawk (featuring bias-modulated tube-driven tremolo), and the Sequoia, a hand-built bass amplifier. Beyond amps, Black Volt produces effects pedals such as the FDR FET Overdrive, a transformer-based Volume Attenuator, and a line of guitars built from reclaimed wood, including the Earthcaster and The Raven.

Black Volt amplifiers have found a following among high-profile players and producers, including Joe Perry (Aerosmith), Slash, Rich Robinson and Isaiah Mitchell (The Black Crowes), Richard Fortus (Guns N' Roses), Jamie Hince (The Kills), Simon Neil (Biffy Clyro), John Rzeznik (Goo Goo Dolls), Adrian Quesada (The Black Pumas), Fleet Foxes, Lord Huron, At The Drive In, and producer Rich Costey.
