Cascade Pedals is a boutique effects pedal builder based in Asheville, North Carolina, founded by Charlie Mostoller in 2017. What started as a personal quest to build a one-of-a-kind pedalboard evolved into a full production operation after demand from local and online musicians grew. Every pedal is hand-built to order using premium new-old-stock components — Telefunken transistors, Sprague and Mallory capacitors, Allen Bradley resistors, and Alpha potentiometers — and ships with a lifetime warranty.
The Cascade Pedals lineup centers on faithful recreations and refined updates of legendary circuits. The Hosstortion is a MOSFET distortion pedal reimagining the rare and revered Ibanez MT-10 Mostortion, featuring a BiMOS chip for increased headroom and output alongside the original's versatile three-band EQ. The Axis Fuzz is a clone of the Roger Mayer Axis Fuzz originally designed for Jimi Hendrix, while the Gnomon Fuzz builds on the AnalogMan SunFace/Fuzz Face circuit with an external bias control and NOS silicon or germanium transistors. The Harmonic Energizer recreates the filter/drive/fuzz pedal famously used by Frank Zappa, Adrian Belew, and Reeves Gabrels. Cascade also produces the Vintage Boost, a silicon boost circuit, and has collaborated with Asheville's Heyday Music on the Heyday Fuzz Boost, combining the Gnomon Fuzz and Vintage Boost into a single pedalboard-friendly enclosure.
Dweezil Zappa is among the artists known to use Cascade Pedals. The company donates 10% of all proceeds to charitable causes, including environmental organizations, racial justice coalitions, and refugee resettlement groups.
