CHOMPI is a portable hardware sampler and looper created by Chelsea and Tobias Hendrickson, a couple based in Spokane, Washington. The flagship CHOMPI Sampler is a screenless, tactile instrument that uses LEDs and physical labels to convey status — a design approach inspired by Eurorack modules and shaped in part by Tobias developing much of the workflow while temporarily blind between eye surgeries. The device captures audio through a built-in microphone or stereo inputs, layers samples with effects like tape saturation, filtering, and a combined reverb/delay "magic wand," and stores sounds to a microSD card.

The instrument debuted via a 2023 Kickstarter campaign that raised over $1 million, becoming one of the most successful music-hardware crowdfunds of that year. CHOMPI runs on the Daisy Seed platform from Electro-Smith and is manufactured by Electro-Distro, with many components produced in the United States. Two alternate firmwares shape its personality: TAPE, a free-form sampler with a varispeed looper, and TEMPO, which reconfigures the unit into a pattern-based groovebox with sample slicing, an arpeggiator, and MIDI clock sync.

In 2025, CHOMPI Club joined boutique pedal maker Chase Bliss, which continues to develop the product line. Limited-edition collaborations include the Chase Bliss x CHOMPI "Treasure Island" variant. The brand is widely discussed for its playful aesthetic, accessibility to beginners, and approachable sampling workflow.
