Coron was a Japanese electronics manufacturer active in the late 1970s and early 1980s, best known for a small family of analog drum and percussion synthesizers. The company's signature products were the DS-7 Drum Synce (DC-860) and the closely related DS-8 (DC-861), compact units that clamped onto the rim of an acoustic drum and used a piezo sensor to trigger a simple analog voice — a VCO with sweepable range, a decay-only envelope, and an LFO, with the DS-8 adding a noise generator and noise/tone balance control.

The DS-7 and DS-8 were widely rebadged and sold under other names, making Coron a de facto OEM for a cluster of early-1980s drum synths. Units appear branded as Cortez (D-3 Pro-Rhythm), Asama (DS-8 Drum Synce, DS-30), Bias (BS-2), JHS, and Grant, among others. A related model, the Rockaku-kun, was also produced.

Coron's catalog has become collectible in the lo-fi and experimental electronic music scenes for its gritty, bleep-and-bloop percussive voice, and the DS-8 circuit in particular has inspired DIY clones and modern recreations, including the Synthrotek DS-8 Drum Synth Clone and various Eurorack-format builds.
