Cortex is a DJ equipment brand and division of GCI Technologies, the parent company behind Gemini Sound. Based in Edison, New Jersey, Cortex debuted at the 2006 Winter NAMM show with a focus on mass-storage-based digital music controllers featuring embedded systems and patented host-controller technology. The brand distinguished itself from the broader Gemini product line by targeting the professional DJ market with high-end digital controllers.

Cortex's flagship products include the HDC-1000, a rack-mountable dual digital music controller with USB input and a database management system for searching large music libraries by artist, title, genre, or album; the HDC-3000, an advanced iteration of the platform; and the HDTT-5000, recognized as the first USB-compatible professional digital music turntable controller. The HDTT-5000 features a large touch-sensitive platter for cueing and scratching, along with a built-in effects module offering 12 effects including filter, flanger, echo, and delay. These products were designed to free DJs from dependence on computers, CD players, and traditional turntables by enabling direct playback and manipulation of digital music files from USB drives, iPods, and portable hard drives.
