Di Mauro was a Parisian guitar-making workshop founded by Sicilian-born luthier brothers Joseph Di Mauro the elder (1894–1966) and Antoine Di Mauro (1900–1976), who immigrated from Italy to France in the 1920s. Antoine opened his first workshop on Impasse Rançon in 1936 before relocating in 1942 to 47 Rue de la Réunion, where his shop operated under the name "Lutherie Moderne." The business was later run by Antoine's son Joseph Di Mauro the younger (1932–2001), who continued production until the workshop closed in 1993.

The Di Mauros were among the earliest and most prolific French luthiers to build Selmer-Maccaferri-style instruments, producing both grande bouche (large oval soundhole) and petite bouche (small D-hole) guitars associated with gypsy jazz, as well as parlor guitars, mandolins, and archtops. Models such as the "Modèle Spécial Chorus," "Jazz," and "St. Louis Blues" circulated widely in Parisian cafés and theaters as affordable, playable alternatives to more expensive Selmer instruments.

Di Mauro guitars were adopted across French popular and jazz music, with instruments played by Django Reinhardt, Jacques Brel, Georges Brassens, Henri Salvador, and Sacha Distel, and later embraced by manouche-tradition players including Tchavolo Schmitt, Dorado Schmitt, Moreno Winterstein, Hono Winterstein, and Biréli Lagrène. Vintage Di Mauro instruments remain collectible on the secondary market, and the shape and construction of their Selmer-style guitars have influenced subsequent French luthiers such as Maurice Dupont and Jacques Favino.
