Dirty Sock Effects is a small-batch guitar pedal builder based in Sydney, Australia, founded by Ewan in 2021 with the launch of the Black One distortion/fuzz. Each pedal is breadboarded, prototyped, and hand-assembled in a one-person workshop, with the lineup leaning toward gain effects, fuzz, and unusual circuits rather than mainstream overdrive territory.
The catalog includes the Transistoriser, a fuzz inspired by 1960s circuits like the Shin-Ei FY-2 and Mosrite Fuzzrite; the Nonagon Fuzz, a modified take on Tim Escobedo's Torn's Peaker; the Dot/Matrix; and the Millionaire. Dirty Sock has also produced collaboration pedals, including the CAT designed with Australian musician SEIMS and the IVP (Intersound Instrument Voicing Preamplifier) co-released with All Music Is Bad.
Alongside its own product line, the workshop offers custom builds and repair work for pedals, amplifiers, and other audio gear. Pedals are sold direct and through boutique retailers such as Cult FX and Gladesville Guitar Factory, and carry a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
