Dream Date Designs is a Canadian audio software company founded by drummer, producer, and engineer Joshua Van Tassel, based out of Dream Date Studio in Upper LaHave, Nova Scotia. The brand builds Kontakt-based virtual instruments, plugins, and sample libraries aimed at producers and composers looking for atmospheric, character-rich sounds rather than clean multisamples.

Its flagship instrument, Dreamer, is a free Kontakt Player loop-based sampler with a pedalboard-style effects rack of around 30 modular FX, designed to chop, mangle, and re-tempo audio into new ideas. Around it, Dream Date Designs has released a growing catalog of paid loop packs and instruments built in collaboration with other artists and gear makers, including the Chase Bliss x Dream Date Designs pack (sounds processed through Chase Bliss pedals) and collaborations with Joseph Shabason, Hand Habits, and Christine Bougie. Other instruments in the line include Phased Out Drums and Lossed Drums.

The project sits at the intersection of boutique studio gear culture and software, with much of the source material recorded through analog signal chains at Van Tassel's own studio before being turned into playable instruments.
