Eastern Acoustic Works is an American professional loudspeaker manufacturer founded in 1978 by Kenneth Berger and Kenton Forsythe in Framingham, Massachusetts. The company played a pioneering role in shaping the modern professional loudspeaker industry by moving away from home-built cabinets using hi-fi or cinema drivers toward purpose-designed, integrated professional systems. EAW's first major product, the CS-3 enclosure system designed for Carlo Sound in Nashville, was the first commercially available horn-loaded single enclosure box system. The KF850, introduced in 1985, became an industry standard for touring productions.
Headquartered in Franklin, Massachusetts, EAW manufactures over 100 loudspeaker models across a wide range of application-specific series. Key product lines include the ADAPTive series (featuring digitally steerable column arrays like the Anya and AC6), the KF and NT Series for large-format applications, the RSX and RS portable series, along with dedicated subwoofers, stage monitors, and UX-series amplification. EAW systems are deployed in concert venues, stadiums, theaters, theme parks, and houses of worship worldwide, with notable installations at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, Bank of America Stadium (home of the Carolina Panthers), and Rogers Centre in Toronto.
Originally independent, EAW was acquired by Mackie Designs (later LOUD Audio) in 2000 and subsequently purchased by the RCF Group in 2018, after which it was reestablished as an independently operated company.
EAW has 3 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Monitors & Accessories and Active & Passive Monitors. Their gear is featured by 2 artists, with the strongest followings in Electronic, Pop, and Rock. Notable users include Jay Kay and Vangelis.
