Elkhart is an entry-level brass and woodwind brand owned by Conn-Selmer and distributed primarily through Conn-Selmer Europe. The line was created in the early 1990s and named after Elkhart, Indiana — the historic American center of band instrument manufacturing where Conn, Selmer, Buescher, Bach, and other major makers built the modern student-band industry. The original Elkhart Band Instrument Company, founded in 1923 by Andrew Hubble Beardsley and Carl Dimond Greenleaf, was an earlier and unrelated maker whose trademark was eventually folded into Buescher and retired in 1959; the modern brand revives the Elkhart name as a heritage marker rather than a continuation of that company.

The modern Elkhart catalog is built around affordable student instruments designed to mirror the layouts and ergonomics of professional models from sister brands like Vincent Bach and C.G. Conn. The range includes alto saxophones (such as the 100AS), Bb clarinets (such as the 100CL), trumpets, cornets, and flutes, typically finished in gold lacquer with simplified keywork and a focus on durability for school and beginner use. Instruments are manufactured in Asia under Conn-Selmer Europe's specifications and sold mainly through UK and European retailers including Gear4music, Chamberlain Music, and Prozone Music.

Elkhart sits at the budget end of the school-band market and is generally positioned against other entry-level lines from Jupiter, Yamaha's student tier, and house brands sold by large European retailers. It is not a brand associated with notable professional artists or signature models — its reputation is built on price-to-playability for first-instrument buyers rather than on stage use.
