Emotiva Audio Corporation is an American hi-fi and home theater electronics company founded in 2003 by Dan Laufman and based in Franklin, Tennessee. The company built its reputation on a direct-to-consumer model intended to deliver high-performance audio gear at prices well below traditional audiophile brands, beginning with the DMC-1 surround processor that debuted in 2005.
Emotiva's catalog is organized around three main product families: the flagship X Series electronics (including the XPA Gen3 power amplifiers and XMC processors), the more affordable BasX Series (compact integrated amps, stereo preamps like the BasX TA1, and the BasX MR1 receiver), and the Airmotiv Series of monitors and subwoofers, which use folded-ribbon tweeters. The lineup spans amplifiers, AV processors and receivers, preamps, DACs, loudspeakers, subwoofers, and cables.
While Emotiva is primarily aimed at home theater and two-channel hi-fi listeners rather than the pro-audio market, the Airmotiv reference monitors have found use in recording and mixing environments thanks to their ribbon tweeter design and price-to-performance ratio.
Emotiva has 2 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Active & Passive Monitors.
