Favilla was a family-run American string instrument maker founded in New York City in the 1890s by brothers John and Joseph Favilla, Italian immigrants who initially traded as Favilla Bros. The company built guitars, mandolins, banjos, ukuleles, and violins, growing through the early 20th century to more than 50 employees and operating for decades out of a workshop on West 16th Street in Manhattan. In 1959, John's son Hercules "Herk" Favilla took over and renamed the firm Favilla Guitars, Inc., relocating production first to Brooklyn and later to Long Island.

The Favilla catalog spanned parlor and dreadnought flat-tops, archtops, classical guitars, and a well-regarded line of ukuleles. Notable models include the F-5 dreadnought, the F-4 parlor, the C-5 Overture classical, the F-12 twelve-string, and a range of soprano and tear-drop ukuleles. Herk Favilla is widely credited with designing one of the first baritone ukuleles in the late 1940s, and the resulting B-series — including the mahogany-bodied B-2 — became a staple of the brand's reputation.

Favilla guitars saw heavy use during the American folk revival of the 1950s and 60s, with players associating the instruments with the New York acoustic scene. Volume manufacturing ended in the early 1970s as the market shifted toward electric instruments, and Herk and his son Tom continued building custom acoustics and importing Japanese-made instruments under the Favilla name into the 1980s. The company is no longer in production, and Favilla instruments today live primarily in the vintage market.
