Forever 89 is a Stockholm-based creative music technology studio founded by Svante Stadler and Rikard Jönsson, two industry veterans whose combined experience spans companies including Ableton, Teenage Engineering, Reason Studios, XLN Audio, Auxy, Cycling '74, and Spotify. The studio's name is a nod to the late 1980s and early 1990s, an era the founders cite as a period of transformative technological and cultural change. Rather than hardware, the company focuses on software instruments and effects delivered as VST3 and AU plugins for macOS and Windows.

The studio's debut product, Visco, is a sample-modelling drum machine and tonal instrument that uses a visual "blob" interface to reshape and morph drum samples, with separate Kit and Tonal modes and support for WAV, AIFF, and FLAC sources. Their follow-up, Topos, is a saturation and speaker-simulation plugin positioned as an all-terrain tone explorer, with emulations of classic amp, speaker, pedal, and tape character. A free companion plugin, Topos: Play, provides a pared-down entry point to the same engine.

Forever 89's output leans toward playful, visually-driven interfaces paired with sound-design-oriented processing, a design sensibility that echoes the founders' backgrounds at Teenage Engineering and Ableton.
