Guitar Research is a house brand of Sam Ash Music, the long-running American musical instrument retailer. The line spans budget-oriented guitar amplifiers, speaker cabinets, cases, and a small run of electric guitars — sold primarily through Sam Ash stores alongside major third-party brands.

The amplifiers, which include tube models like the T30R as well as solid-state combos, are manufactured in China and are recognizable for a distinctive red tolex covering. On the guitar side, Guitar Research is best known for the Eddie Durham commemorative archtops (the JX16 and JX17, including the JX17N), a limited 2006 run produced by Peerless in South Korea — the same factory responsible for Peerless Manhattan and reissue D'Angelico EXL1 models. The JX16 took cues from the Gibson ES-175 shape, while the JX17 followed the D'Angelico New Yorker tradition.
