Guyton Guitars is a custom guitar workshop founded by luthier Andrew (Andy) Guyton, based on the Norfolk/Suffolk border in England. Guyton began repairing and modifying guitars in the early 1980s and moved into full-scale building after studying Melvyn Hiscock's guitar construction book in the late 1990s. The brand gained international recognition after Andy was commissioned to restore Brian May's original Red Special, which led to an ongoing working relationship with May that now spans two decades.
The workshop is best known for its authorized Red Special replicas, including a run of fifty limited-edition guitars produced in 2004 to mark the Red Special's 40th anniversary, and the later Time-Warp series that recreates specific historical states of May's guitar. Guyton also produces the RS Transporter, a travel-sized headless Red Special variant designed by Martin Pitcher, alongside unique one-off builds such as a 12/6 doubleneck and a scalloped-fretboard model.
Beyond the Red Special lineage, the workshop builds original designs including the Miura and Portofino models, signature instruments, and bespoke commissions featuring custom hardware and carbon-fiber components. Players associated with Guyton instruments include Brian May, Bryan Adams, Arielle, and others within the rock and metal community.
