Henretta Engineering is a boutique pedal company founded in 2009 by Kevin Henretta, a gigging guitarist and design engineer with a background in hard sciences and industrial design. Based in Saint Paul, Minnesota, the company is best known for its lineup of ultra-compact, all-analog "no-knob" effect pedals housed in tiny 2" x 2" enclosures. Each mini pedal uses internal trimmers to set parameters, embodying a "set-and-forget" utilitarian philosophy inspired by the vintage Dan Armstrong mini effects of the 1970s like the Orange Squeezer and Blue Clipper.

The core lineup of mini pedals includes the Orange Whip compressor, Bluebird fuzz, Pinkman dirty boost, Mr. White tweak boost, Crimson tremolo, Purple Octopus octave-up, Emerald Prince preamp (modeled after the Echoplex EP3 preamp), Golden Years phaser, and Red Brick delay. Henretta Engineering also produces full-sized pedals and combination units such as the TrembleTank (reverb and tremolo), Purple Haze (fuzz and octave), H-Bomb Drive (compressor and overdrive), Lake Effect (fuzz and tremolo), and the Heisenberg (clean and dirty boost). The Shades of Gray series offers fuzz circuits inspired by classic designs from the likes of Jordan, Maestro, and Vox.

All pedals are handmade in the USA. The brand has earned a following among working musicians drawn to compact, reliable, tone-focused designs, with users including Charlie Singleton of Cameo, Jesse Johnson of The Time, and Joseph Arthur.
