Holeyboard is the pedalboard line made by Chemistry Design Werks, a small Minnesota workshop founded by Chris Trifilio. Trifilio, a musician with a background designing blowtorches, snow-sleds, and medical devices, began building pedalboards full-time in 2014 out of a 1924 garage in the Twin Cities. The boards are machined from aircraft-grade aluminum and assembled in the USA, with the company emphasizing domestic small-business sourcing.
The defining feature is a patented perforated platform — the "holey" pattern that gives the brand its name — which lets players mount pedals using zip ties, hook-and-loop, DualLock, magnets, or quick-release plates rather than committing to a single attachment method. Most models use a two-tier, ergonomic layout that places foot pedals on a lower platform for easier switching, and the boards are modular and expandable so a rig can grow without being rebuilt.
The lineup includes the Holeyboard 123, a compact expandable board sized from roughly 13 to 30 inches; the smaller Holeyboard Mini for grab-and-go rigs; modular pieces like the Module A, Module B, AC Combo, and ABC Combo; and larger or specialty designs such as the Dragonfly, ZigZag, and the anodized-aluminum NEXT Series. The boards are sold direct as well as through retailers including Sweetwater, Guitar Center, and Reverb.
