HTJ-Works is a Tokyo-based boutique effects builder run primarily by Toru Kamigaito, who handles the bulk of the design and assembly work in-house. The brand focuses on compact, refined takes on classic gain-based circuits, aiming to package well-known sounds into more affordable and pedalboard-friendly enclosures.
The lineup leans heavily on overdrive and preamp territory. The Ventura is a TS808-style three-knob overdrive, the Bright Horse is a Klon-inspired boost/overdrive offered in silver and gold variants, and the Hide & Seek pairs a Tubescreamer-style circuit with a Klon-style circuit in a single dual enclosure. The Double Singer combines a TS808-derived "Texas Heat" with a Bluesbreaker-derived "Vintage Blues Breaker" voice, and the Green Apple OD is the company's interpretation of the Nobels ODR-1.
Beyond drives, HTJ-Works builds the Valve Crystal, a 12AX7-driven preamp pedal voiced after Dumble-style amp circuits, and the HWS-100AS Sustainor, a compact pedal-format reimagining of Tom Scholz's Rockman Sustainor. Development is informed by feedback from working musicians across home, studio, and live contexts, and the pedals are distributed internationally through dealers including Reverb, Deluxe Guitars (Australia), and Gsus4.
HTJ-Works has 2 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Multi Effects Pedals and Overdrive Effects Pedals.
