Jean Barault is a French luthier known for handcrafted gypsy jazz guitars inspired by the pre-war Selmer-Maccaferri designs associated with Django Reinhardt. His workshop produces a small catalog of Selmer-style instruments, including the entry-level JB Studio Model, the JB Standard in oval-hole and D-hole configurations, a JB D-Hole Special seven-string, the JB Vintage Relic series, and a nylon-strung JB Standard D-Hole. Most models are built with spruce soundboards, ebony fretboards, and Indian rosewood backs and sides, with optional upgrades to Brazilian rosewood or maple and SB Barault tuners.

Barault is one of the few contemporary builders to reproduce the original Selmer pliage — a hot-iron fold in the soundboard just under the bridge — using the same technique as the pre-war originals. This focus on replicating vintage tonal characteristics has made his instruments a reference point among players chasing the voice of early Selmers like Django's #503. In 1999, he collaborated with Selmer on a limited run of ten centenary replica guitars built to Mario Maccaferri's original plans, and he also supplied instruments used in the 2017 film Django.

His guitars are played by a number of prominent figures in the gypsy jazz scene, including Biréli Lagrène, Tchavolo Schmitt, Dorado Schmitt, Angelo Debarre, and Stochelo Rosenberg.
