JL Audio is an American audio manufacturer based in Miramar, Florida, founded in 1975 by James Birch and Lucio Proni — the company name comes from the first letters of their names. The pair began building home loudspeaker kits before shifting focus to car audio in the late 1970s and 1980s, a market where JL Audio became one of the most recognizable names, particularly for its subwoofers.

The brand is best known for its mobile subwoofer drivers, including the flagship W7 and W7AE series, and the W6, W3, and TW (thin-line) lines aimed at more space-constrained installs. JL Audio also makes full-range component speakers, coaxials, and the Slash and HD series of Class D amplifiers, which became staples of the car audio aftermarket after the Slash series launched in 2000. Many of its driver-based products are designed and built at the company's South Florida facility.

Beyond car audio, JL Audio produces marine audio systems used in powersports and boating applications, as well as home audio subwoofers and speakers — including the Fathom and Dominion powered subwoofer series and the Gotham reference sub — that have found a following in home theater and high-end two-channel setups.
