JVC is a Japanese electronics manufacturer, originally founded in 1927 as the Victor Talking Machine Company of Japan and later known as the Japan Victor Company (Victor Company of Japan, Ltd.). The company is now part of JVCKenwood Corporation, formed through a 2008 merger with Kenwood. While widely known outside the music world for consumer electronics, camcorders, and for developing the VHS video format, JVC has a long history in audio engineering that includes turntables, tape decks, microphones, and broadcast equipment.

Within the music and audio space, JVC is best known for its headphones and earphones, particularly the HA series. Its wood-dome and wood-diaphragm "Wood" line — models such as the HA-FW series and the HA-FX850 — uses wooden drivers to shape resonance, a technique drawn from the company's experience in hi-fi speaker design. JVC also produces the bass-oriented HA-SZ and XX (Xtreme Xplosives) lines aimed at electronic and hip-hop listening, in-ear monitors, and studio-style over-ear models. In Japan, many of these products continue to be sold under the Victor name, while the JVC brand is used internationally.

Beyond headphones, JVC's audio catalog has historically included car audio head units and speakers, home theater receivers, portable recorders, and CD/Mini Disc equipment. The company's legacy in recording technology — it operated the Victor record label and pressing plants for much of the 20th century — gives it a long footprint in the broader audio industry even though its modern presence in professional music gear is concentrated in personal listening products.
