Ken Lawrence Instruments is a one-person custom shop based in Arcata, California, founded by luthier Ken Lawrence in 1986 after he began building at Moonstone Guitars in 1981. The shop is best known in the bass world for high-end handcrafted electric basses, including the Associate (offered in 4-, 5-, and 6-string configurations), the Brase, and the semi-hollow Chamberbass, all built in small numbers with long lead times.
