Knilling is a string instrument brand established in 1922 by Bernard Kornblum, an Austrian immigrant to St. Louis, Missouri, who began importing German-made violins after responding to a newspaper advertisement seeking an importer. The instruments were branded in honor of Johann Knilling, a 19th-century German luthier whose craftsmanship Kornblum admired. The brand expanded significantly during the post-World War II school music boom and grew into one of the most prominent names in student orchestral instruments. Knilling is owned by St. Louis Music, and instruments are inspected, set up, and adjusted at the Knilling String Shop in St. Louis.

The catalog covers violins, violas, cellos, and basses spanning beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, with long-running lines including the Bucharest series and the Sebastian Premier series, alongside specialty offerings such as the Bolero violin designed for mariachi music. Knilling also produces J. Rémy bows. The company is best known among educators for pioneering Perfection Planetary Pegs, geared tuning pegs that replace traditional friction pegs to make tuning easier and more stable, particularly for students.

Knilling has 2 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Cellos and Violins.
