Kodamo is a French synthesizer manufacturer and sound research laboratory founded in 2019, with instruments hand-assembled and individually tested. The company debuted at SynthFest with the EssenceFM, a six-operator FM synthesizer module built around a touchscreen interface that lets users freely design FM algorithms by connecting operators on screen. The EssenceFM offers 300-voice polyphony, 16-part multitimbrality, dual stereo effects DSPs (reverb, chorus, shimmer, delay, distortion, phaser, bitcrush), MPE support, and separate outputs, and was later updated as the EssenceFM MKII.

In 2022 Kodamo introduced the Mask1, a keyboard synthesizer based on a proprietary technique the company calls Bitmask Synthesis, which adapts ideas from computer programming to generate up to 512 oscillator waveforms with an articulation system responsive to playing dynamics. The desktop module version, Mask1EX, brings the same engine to a smaller and more affordable format, and was followed by the Mask1EX MK2.

Kodamo positions itself as a small-scale builder focused on unusual digital synthesis methods and modern touchscreen workflows, with a product line concentrated on FM and bitmasking sound design rather than analog or subtractive designs.
