Korogi is a Japanese manufacturer of tuned keyboard percussion instruments, based in Echizen, Fukui Prefecture, with a secondary office in Tokyo. The company began producing desktop xylophones in 1949 and has since grown into a specialist maker of concert marimbas, xylophones, glockenspiels, vibraphones, and smaller instruments such as boxphones, alongside custom percussion and accessories. Instruments are built to order at the Korogi factory, where craftsmen tune and voice each bar by hand.
Korogi's marimba and xylophone bars are cut from Guatemalan Honduran rosewood, which is shipped to Japan and seasoned for several years in a climate-controlled drying room before being graded, cut, and tuned. The company publishes selection rates for its timber — roughly 4% of imported rosewood qualifies for its AAA class, and about 1.2% for its top Extra-grade instruments — reflecting an emphasis on bar selection over volume production. Product lines span the professional Perfection series (including the 5-octave PF3000CC rosewood marimba) and the Selection series of xylophones such as the SEU550RF.
In North America, Korogi instruments are distributed exclusively through Percussion Source, with additional authorized dealers in Australia, China, Europe (via the Netherlands), Hong Kong, Korea, and Taiwan. The Tokyo office operates under the neoria KOROGI name and serves as a showroom and retail arm for the Japanese market.
