Korora Audio is a boutique pedal builder based in Seattle, Washington, specializing in guitar effect pedals and electronics for creative musicians. The company's designs draw on concepts from psychoacoustics and signal processing to produce effects with a distinct character, suitable for both studio and stage use.
Korora Audio's debut pedal, the Spira, is a filter modulation effect inspired by the Shepard tone — an auditory illusion first described by cognitive scientist Roger Shepard in 1964. Rather than pitch-shifting, the Spira uses a bank of resonant bandpass filters to create the sensation of a never-ending ascending or descending sweep, offering a unique alternative to traditional phasers and flangers. The pedal features controls for rate, resonance, and blend, along with toggle switches for filter slope (6, 12, or 18 dB per octave) and filter density. Their second pedal, the Merlo, is a harmonic tremolo with a wide palette of LFO shapes (sine, triangle, and square), tone-shaping controls, and tap-tempo functionality. Both pedals include internal DIP switches for fine-tuning behavior and are designed to work with guitar, bass, or any amplified instrument.
