Krotos is an Edinburgh-based audio software company founded in 2013 by Orfeas Boteas, a sound designer who began the project while completing an MSc in Sound Design at the University of Edinburgh. The company's first product, Dehumaniser, grew out of a student project that turned a performer's voice into monster vocalizations in real time using layered animal samples and live processing. With backing from the University of Edinburgh and a fellowship from the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Krotos launched commercially and expanded into a full catalog of sound design tools.

The company develops plugins and software aimed at film, TV, and game sound designers, including Dehumaniser 2 for vocal transformation, Weaponiser for firearm and weapon sound design, Reformer Pro for performance-based sound replacement, Igniter for vehicle engine sounds, and Concept, a synthesizer. The company's tools are particularly associated with post-production sound design rather than music production, and its customer base skews toward studios such as Warner Bros., Sony Pictures, Disney, Epic Games, Sega, and Ubisoft.
