Lotus Pedal Designs is a boutique guitar effects company founded in 2009 by Sean Erspamer in Duluth, Minnesota. Erspamer spent over a decade as an electronics technician at Crane Song LTD, a respected pro audio manufacturer, while also working as a musician and live sound engineer. After years of searching for his ideal guitar tones in off-the-shelf boutique pedals and coming up short, he began designing his own circuits.

The brand is built around a function-over-form philosophy that stands in deliberate contrast to the flashy aesthetics common in the boutique pedal market. Lotus pedals are characterized by their minimalist enclosures and unlabeled knobs — a signature design choice that encourages players to dial in tones by ear rather than by numbers. The lineup includes the Iceverb spring reverb, the Golden Echo analog-voiced digital delay, the White Overdrive and Red Overdrive, the THD+N lo-fi fuzz (named after the Total Harmonic Distortion + Noise measurement), and the Snowjob Underdrive, an unconventional pedal that drives the signal from the guitar side rather than pushing the amp into breakup.

All Lotus pedals are hand-built in small batches, reflecting Erspamer's commitment to a less-is-more approach where simple controls and carefully voiced circuits take priority over feature-laden designs.
