Founded in 1998 as a collaboration between guitarist Pierangelo Mezzabarba and engineer Marco Masotti, the company operates under the name Masotti Guitar Devices and positions itself as a partnership between engineers and players aimed at high-end tone for electric guitar.

The product range covers tube amplifier heads such as the X100M, slave power amps, speaker cabinets, preamps, effects power supplies, and overdrive, boost, loop and sampler pedals. Masotti also builds custom floorboard units and complete gig rigs tailored to individual players. The brand later spawned the related Mezzabarba Custom Amplification line, which grew out of the original Masotti Guitar Devices work.
