Mean Street Guitars is a custom guitar shop founded in 1999 by luthier Mitchel Floyd, specializing in one-of-a-kind instruments built to customer specifications. The shop is best known within the Van Halen community for its EVH-style tribute builds, including Frankenstein-inspired striped designs, 5150 replicas, and Kramer-style Pipeline Tour models with Floyd Rose tremolos, basswood bodies, maple necks, and custom-wound pickups.
Beyond its Van Halen tributes, Mean Street has built a reputation for elaborate finish work, including Holoflash and LightFX finishes as well as industrial, dieselpunk, and steampunk graphic treatments applied with House of Kolor and PPG paints. The shop also handles modifications and refinishes on instruments from brands like Jackson, Schecter, Charvel, and EVH Wolfgang.
Mean Street guitars and basses have been built for players including Satchel and Spyder of Steel Panther, and the shop has produced tribute pieces honoring figures like Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick.
