Mod Electronics is a Tempe, Arizona-based brand specializing in do-it-yourself guitar amplifier and effects pedal kits. Originally launched in 2010 under the name MOD Kits DIY, the company is operated by Amplified Parts and designs kits aimed at builders of all experience levels. Every kit ships with a pre-drilled enclosure, all necessary components, and step-by-step instructions, requiring only basic hand tools and a soldering iron to complete.
The product line spans three main series. The Terminus Series pedal kits use traditional point-to-point wiring on terminal strips, offering effects like The Rattler (fuzz), The Piledriver (clean boost), The Thunderdrive (overdrive), The Persuader Deluxe (vacuum tube drive), The Verb Deluxe (reverb), The Ring in Return (octave-up fuzz), The Rock Bottom (bass fuzz), and The Trill (tremolo), among others. The Nexus Series introduces PCB-based construction in compact enclosures, with kits like the Tone Splendor MK1S silicon fuzz and the Seismic Shift JFET boost. On the amplifier side, the Animus Series includes vintage-inspired tube amp kits modeled after classic American circuits — the 5F1 (5-watt Tweed Champ style), 5E3 (12-watt Tweed Deluxe style), AA764 (5-watt Blackface vibrato), AA1164 (12-watt Blackface reverb), and AB763 (22-watt Blackface reverb) — as well as the MOD 102+, a compact all-tube practice amp combining American and British Class A circuit design.
Mod Electronics also sells individual components including reverb tanks, electrolytic capacitors designed for tube amplifiers, speakers, and enclosures. The brand's emphasis on point-to-point wiring and transparent circuit layouts is aimed at helping builders understand signal paths and encouraging further customization and modification of their builds.
