Moon Guitars is a Scottish luthier workshop founded in 1969 by Jimmy Moon, originally on the Isle of Arran before relocating to Glasgow in 1985. The shop builds custom acoustic guitars along with the full mandolin family — including mandolins, mandolas, and bouzoukis — using tonewoods such as Indian rosewood, maple, mahogany, ebony, and Alaskan spruce. Electric guitars have also come out of the workshop, and earlier in its history the company produced a line of custom electrics for British and Scottish acts.

Production is kept low, at roughly 200 instruments per year, with standard acoustics taking several weeks to complete and bespoke builds running months longer. Moon's work is closely associated with the Celtic and folk traditions thanks to its bouzoukis and mandolas, while the acoustic six- and twelve-string models have appeared in pop and rock contexts. The RD3 is among the acoustic models the workshop is known for.

Over the decades, Moon instruments have been built for or supplied to artists including Big Country, Simple Minds, Del Amitri, Wet Wet Wet, Altered Images, Texas, Coldplay, Scissor Sisters, Dougie MacLean, Paolo Nutini, Bryan Adams, Keith Scott, Trevor Rabin, Adele, and Steve Earle.
