Nordmende is a German consumer electronics brand with roots tracing back to Radio H. Mende & Co., founded in 1923 in Dresden by Otto Hermann Mende. After the original factory was destroyed in World War II, Martin Mende re-established the company in Bremen in 1947 as Norddeutsche Mende-Rundfunk GmbH, the name from which the Nordmende brand derives. Through the 1950s and 1960s the company became one of West Germany's most prominent makers of radios, televisions, tape recorders and record players.

The brand's audio output from this era is its most collected legacy. Tube console and table radios such as the Othello and Carmen series defined Nordmende's 1950s output, while portables like the Mambo, Mambino, Transita and Globetrotter helped popularize transistor radio listening in Europe. The Spectra Futura stereo system from 1968, developed in collaboration with industrial designer Raymond Loewy, remains the brand's most recognizable hi-fi product and is still sought after on the vintage market alongside Nordmende's tuner-amplifiers and reel-to-reel tape decks.

Thomson-Brandt acquired a controlling stake in 1977 and absorbed the company through the 1980s, after which Nordmende continued primarily as a trademark rather than an independent manufacturer. The name is licensed to consumer electronics partners across several European territories, but for musicians and audio enthusiasts the Nordmende name is most strongly associated with mid-century German radios and home audio equipment from the Bremen-era catalog.
