Nuendo is a digital audio workstation developed by Steinberg, the German music software company also responsible for Cubase and the VST plug-in standard. First released in 2000, Nuendo shares a core audio engine with Cubase but is positioned specifically toward post-production work for film, television, game audio, and broadcast, with feature sets aimed at re-recording mixers, sound designers, and dialogue editors.

The software includes tools tailored to picture-accompanied workflows, such as ADR (automated dialogue replacement) taking and cue management, the Dolby Atmos renderer integration for immersive mixing, the Game Audio Connect workflow for handing assets to engines like Wwise, and a Video Engine that supports a wide range of codecs without external transcoding. Nuendo also ships with the same VST3 instrument and effect framework as Cubase, plus post-specific processors like the included DeNoiser, DeReverb, and dialogue-focused tools from Steinberg's SpectraLayers technology.

Nuendo is widely used in scoring stages, post houses, and game studios, and is often deployed alongside Steinberg's Nuage control surface for large-format mixing rooms. Steinberg itself has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Yamaha since 2005, and Nuendo development continues out of Steinberg's Hamburg headquarters.
