Passport Designs was a pioneering music software company founded in 1979 by Dave Kusek and John Borowicz, based in Northern California (Montara, Half Moon Bay, and later Foster City). The company helped define personal computer-based music creation in the 1980s, releasing the pre-MIDI SoundChaser system in 1982 and going on to ship a long line of MIDI sequencing and notation tools for the Apple II, Macintosh, and Windows platforms.

The brand is best known for its music notation and sequencing titles, including PolyWriter, Encore, MusicTime and MusicTime Deluxe, Master Tracks and Master Tracks Pro, Alchemy (a waveform audio editor), and Passport Producer. Encore in particular became a widely used professional score-writing application, while Master Tracks Pro was an early standard for MIDI sequencing before the rise of modern DAWs.

Many of Passport Designs' original programs were authored by Don Williams, who continued to develop the Encore line after the company's assets changed hands. The catalog — Encore, MusicTime Deluxe, and MasterTracks Pro — has continued to be maintained and sold under the Passport Music Software name.
