Pearl Queen is a historic brand of Chemnitzer concertinas manufactured in Chicago, Illinois by Otto Schlicht and his associates from approximately 1911 to the late 1940s. Schlicht, a German immigrant who arrived in the United States around 1900 with concertina-building expertise, produced instruments under the Pearl Queen, Patek, and Peerless brand names. Pearl Queen concertinas were made for retailers Otto Georgi & Louis Vitak, and later for the Vitak-Elsnic Company. Though sold under different names, Pearl Queen and Patek concertinas were identical instruments.

Pearl Queen concertinas were a cornerstone of the Polish American polka music scene from the 1920s through the 1960s. Models ranged from 51-button to 104-key configurations, with double, triple, or quadruple reed setups. Finish options spanned from basic wood to ornate abalone shell inlays. Instruments fitted with reeds by renowned reed maker John Friedl are especially prized by collectors and players for their superior tonal quality.

After Schlicht ceased production around 1950, his concertina-making equipment was purchased in 1952 by Christy Hengel of New Ulm, Minnesota, who carried forward the Chemnitzer concertina building tradition. Pearl Queen instruments are sought-after vintage collectibles, valued for their craftsmanship and role in American folk music history.
