Pettyjohn Electronics is a boutique guitar pedal company based in Sisters, Oregon, founded by mastering and electrical engineer Stephen Pettyjohn around 2014. Drawing on his background as a studio engineer, producer, and guitar player, Pettyjohn set out to translate the qualities of high-end studio outboard gear into stompbox form, with each pedal designed and hand-wired in the USA by a small team.
The brand is known for all-analog signal paths built around discrete op amps, carefully selected components, and a proprietary internal voltage converter that runs the audio circuitry at up to 36 volts for greater headroom. Its catalog spans overdrives, distortions, fuzzes, compressors, and DI/preamp tools, including the PettyDrive, the Predrive studio preamp, the Chime, the Iron, the Gold, the Crush compressor, and The Missing Link DI. The current Foundry Series, introduced in 2020, brought updated circuits and refined feature sets across the lineup.
Pettyjohn pedals are positioned at the boutique end of the market, sold direct from the company as well as through dealers like Vintage King, Guitar Center, Reverb, and a network of specialty pedal retailers.
Petty John has 2 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Fuzz Effects Pedals and Compressor Effects Pedals.
