Playtronica is a Tallinn, Estonia–based studio and product company that designs interactive MIDI controllers built around capacitive touch and conductive materials. Founded by theatre producer and musician Sasha Pas — whose project began in Barcelona around 2012 and formalized in 2014 out of research into electronic-music education for children — the team includes creative technologist Andrey Manirko, designer Aglaya Demidenko, and composer Olga Maximova. The work straddles musical instrument design, education, art installation, and event production.

The core hardware lineup turns the everyday environment into a playable surface. TouchMe measures resistance between two contact points to convert skin, water, plants, or other conductive matter into pitched MIDI notes whose timbre responds to touch intensity. Playtron extends the same idea across up to 16 conductive inputs, each mapped to a fixed note for keyboard-style play on objects like fruit, foil, or printed graphite. Biotron focuses specifically on plants as input sources, while Orbita is a motion- and color-driven sequencer. All devices function as class-compliant USB MIDI controllers and integrate with standard DAWs and software synths.

Alongside the hardware shop, Playtronica runs a free browser-based collection of web synths developed with Chromatone and is known for tactile, performance-oriented demos that emphasize playful, hands-on sound exploration over conventional keyboard or pad interfaces.
