Rautia Guitars is a small Finnish workshop run by luthier Veijo Rautia, who handcrafts custom electric guitars and pickups. Rautia is perhaps best known outside Finland as the chief designer behind the original Flaxwood guitars, whose injection-molded composite-wood instruments he helped develop in the mid-2000s; Flaxwood later named a model the Rautia in his honor.
The shop's output centers on hand-wound pickups — humbuckers, P-90-style singlecoils, and splittable multi-coil designs — wound with period-correct magnet wire and aimed at both guitar and bass builders. On the instrument side, Rautia builds made-to-order electric guitars with customer-specified woods, finishes, neck shapes, and fretboard radii, and has produced interpretations of vintage designs such as a partially chambered single-cut inspired by the 1950s Supro Dual Tone.
The brand operates out of Finland and has shown instruments at the Finnish Tonefest Guitar Gallery in Tuusula. Rautia's pickups have circulated through builder and player communities on forums such as TalkBass, where his multicoil designs are frequently discussed among boutique bass builders.
Rautia Guitars has 1 product cataloged on Equipboard, including Electric Guitar Pickups.
