Sauter is a German piano maker based in Spaichingen, Baden-Württemberg, founded in 1819 by Johann Grimm, who trained in Vienna under Nanette Streicher. The company has remained in family ownership for six generations and is regarded as one of the oldest continuously operating independent piano manufacturers in Germany. Production is concentrated on a small annual output of instruments built entirely in-house using German-sourced components.

The lineup spans uprights and grand pianos, including the Carus 112, Master Class 122, Concert 275, and the Omega and Vivace grands. Sauter also produces a Microtone piano with subdivided semitones, a SilentPlay system for silent practice, and the Ambiente cabinet line designed by Peter Maly.
