Shubb is a California-based capo manufacturer founded in 1974 by professional banjoist Rick Shubb and machinist Dave Coontz. The company began with a fifth-string banjo capo developed at Coontz's auto shop in Concord, California, and expanded to guitar capos in 1979 with the introduction of an over-center locking design that became its signature mechanism. Jerry Garcia was the company's first customer, receiving a custom capo for his Weymann banjo while playing with Old and In the Way.

Shubb's lineup centers on lever-style capos for steel-string guitar, nylon-string guitar, banjo, mandolin, and ukulele, along with partial capos, steels, and slides. Notable models include the Original Capo (C1 for steel-string, C5 for nylon-string), the stainless-steel Deluxe series with a roller mechanism introduced in 1998, the lighter-weight Shubb Lite released in 2008, and the screw-tensioned FineTune Capo F1. Specialty finishes include the Royale, Anniversary, Paua Pearl, and Violet Sky series.

Assembly is split between Rohnert Park, California, and a dedicated facility in Qingdao, China. The capos are widely stocked by retailers such as Sweetwater, and the design is recognized in the acoustic, bluegrass, and folk communities for its consistent intonation and simple over-center clamp.
