Shreddage is a line of sample-based virtual electric guitar and bass instruments developed by Impact Soundworks, originally launched in 2010 as a deeply sampled Kontakt library aimed at producing realistic high-gain rock and metal rhythm parts. The series helped popularize the idea that a software guitar could sit convincingly in a heavy mix, and it has since expanded into a broad family of instruments covering different body styles, pickup configurations, and string counts.
The current generation runs on the Shreddage 3 engine and requires Native Instruments Kontakt. The guitar lineup includes Shreddage 3 Stratus (a Strat-style instrument with three pickups), Shreddage 3 Telos (a single-cut rock guitar), Shreddage 3 Hollomatic (a hollowbody with a twangier voice), Shreddage 3 Serpent and Shreddage 3 Jupiter (seven-string instruments), Shreddage 3 Hydra (eight-string), and Shreddage 3 Argent (nine-string). Free editions such as Shreddage 3 Stratus FREE and Shreddage 3 Precision FREE are also offered.
On the low end, the bass family includes Shreddage Bass, Shreddage 3 Precision, and Shreddage 3 Fretless, the last built around an Ibanez SRF705 for warmer, mwah-style tones. Each Shreddage instrument ships with the Console mixer — a modular effects rack with EQs, compressors, amps, distortion pedals, reverbs, and a library of cabinet impulse responses — so users can shape tones inside the plugin without an external amp simulator.
Shreddage has 4 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Kontakt Instrument and Bass. Their gear is featured by 1 artist, with the strongest followings in Electronic and Stage & Screen. Notable users include Toby Fox.
