Skjold Design Guitars is a custom bass guitar workshop founded by luthier Pete Skjold and based in Warsaw, Ohio. Skjold began designing basses in 1992 and built his first instruments in 1996, formally establishing the company as his full-time pursuit in 2003. Each instrument is handcrafted without CNC machinery, with Skjold emphasizing the integration of playability, tone, craftsmanship, and aesthetics rather than treating any single element in isolation.

The company's lineup includes models such as the Drakkar, Whaleback, Griffin, Firedrake, Lion's Pride, Gen, Greyling, Skjoldslayer, and the Wyvern signature for David Dyson, alongside the original Standard 92 body shape that started the line. A signature feature across many builds is an adjustable pickup-ramp system developed in collaboration with bassist Damian Erskine, designed to give players a consistent thumb anchor and tighter dynamic control. In addition to instruments, Skjold sells its own line of bass strings, straps, and apparel.
