Snake Oil Fine Instruments is a boutique guitar effects pedal brand founded by Rob Chapman of Chapman Guitars, with pedal circuits designed in collaboration with Zach Broyles of Mythos Pedals. Launched at NAMM in January 2019, the brand takes its name from a tongue-in-cheek nod to the culture of hype and marketing in the guitar gear world. The pedals are built in England and feature a distinctive Victorian-era aesthetic inspired by 19th-century patent medicine advertising, with embossed bronze and pewter enclosures stamped with slogans like "Cures All Known Bad Tone." The branding, developed with The Pull Agency, won Best Physical Product Design at The Drum Design Awards.

The debut lineup consists of two analogue gain pedals, each priced at £149. The Marvellous Engine is a distortion pedal inspired by classic high-gain British amp tones, featuring gain, level, tone, and a distinctive Voice control that engages a second clipping stage for added harmonic complexity. The Very Thing is a boost/overdrive built around a 4558 dual op-amp, offering symmetrical clipping for smooth drive tones with substantial headroom. Both pedals feature true bypass switching and run on standard 9-volt power.
