Sonaré is a step-up instrument brand launched in 2002 by Verne Q. Powell Flutes of Boston, created to deliver the renowned Powell flute sound at intermediate-level prices. The line pairs hand-cut sterling silver headjoints — produced by master craftsmen in Powell's Massachusetts workshop — with bodies built through a more cost-efficient process, giving developing flutists access to a professional voice without the cost of a fully handmade Powell instrument. Models include the PS-101, PS-501, PS-505, PS-601, PS-705, and PS-905.

Sonaré expanded into brass in 2005 with a line of professional Bb trumpets developed in partnership with lead-pipe designer Cliff Blackburn and brass design veteran Fred Powell. Production of the trumpets — including the TRB-701, TRB-801, TRB-802, and TRB-901 — is handled by E.K. Blessing in Elkhart, Indiana, and the horns feature touches like one-piece hand-hammered bells, Monel pistons, and adjustable valve guides typically found on more expensive instruments.

The brand sits under Powell Flutes, which became part of the Buffet Crampon group of wind-instrument makers in 2016. Sonaré instruments are widely distributed through major retailers including Sweetwater, Musician's Friend, and Guitar Center, as well as flute-specialty shops in the U.S. and Europe.
